
Chennai Corporation plans bus terminus close to Vivekanandar Illam

An official with the GCC mentioned that the undertaking is awaiting administrative sanction. It is predicted to return up close to the the junction of Dr. Besant Road and Kamarajar Salai, close to Marina Beach. “The location chosen lies on a busy stretch close to Marina Beach, near key landmarks and historic landmarks alongside the coast. So, proposal has been ready to match the encircling,” he added.
This undertaking, which is estimated to value ₹1 crore, will probably be collectively funded by the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Funds (MLA-LAD) and the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) — 50% allotted below every scheme.
The undertaking includes the development of a bus terminus with a small timekeeper room. It could have important passenger facilities, together with a ready platform, seating preparations and a feeding room. The work is scheduled to be accomplished inside 4 months from the date of graduation.
An engineer with the Chennai Corporation mentioned that work is predicted to start inside seven days of website handover after tender course of is finalised.
Bus bay in 2016
In 2016, the Corporation had created a bus bay at this location by reallocating land from a close-by park, alongside initiatives to revive greenery, set up 1.2-metre heritage pillars, widen pavements, and erect new bus shelters, to ease congestion and enhance pedestrian circumstances alongside the Marina promenade.
