Yorgos Lanthimos drops trailer for brand spanking new movie Bugonia starring Emma Stone; followers name it Don’t Look Up on ayahuasca’
What do you get whenever you combine a cult Korean sci-fi, an alien conspiracy, and Emma Stone? Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia — watch the trailer
Emma Stone
Based on the 2003 cult South Korean movie Save the Green Planet!, Bugonia follows two conspiracy-obsessed males who kidnap a high-powered CEO, satisfied she’s truly a hostile alien in disguise. Emma Stone performs that CEO. With Lanthimos directing and Succession author Will Tracy penning the script, the movie guarantees a mixture of darkish comedy, sharp satire, and existential dread.
Netizens are hyped
The response had been greater than optimistic on social media. “Yorgos actually discovered Emma Stone and was like ‘that’s it, she will probably be my lead actress for the remainder of the flicks I make,’” joked one fan. “Emma Stone AND Jesse Plemons? I’m in! They must cease making Jesse play bizarre characters,” stated one consumer. Another added, “Whoever does his color grading is top-tier.”
Others have been intrigued by the genre-blurring visuals: “This appears like Don’t Look Up if it did ayahuasca.” One extra remark learn, “Looks like one other episode from Black Mirror.” For followers of the Stone-Lanthimos duo, this appears like a must-watch. As one consumer put it: “Love the actual fact Lanthimos and Emma Stone drop a film yearly. I’ll by no means get uninterested in it. Proper cinema.”
With Bugonia, Lanthimos continues to blur the traces between the absurd and the profound — and audiences can’t wait to see how far he’s prepared to go this time.
