
3 kanwariyas killed after truck overturns on Rishikesh-Chamba freeway

The truck, travelling from Sikandrabad in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr to Dharali (18 km earlier than Gangotri Dham) in Uttarkashi, overturned roughly 42 km from Rishikesh round 10 am.
“As the truck overturned, the victims had been trapped below the automobile. We used a number of JCBs to rescue them. Three Kanwariyas died on the accident spot,” Tehri Garhwal district Justice of the Peace Nitika Khandelwal stated.
Four of the injured Kanwariyas had been shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, whereas others had been admitted to a hospital in Narendra Nagar. “Rescue groups, together with personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), carried out the aid and rescue operation,” Khandelwal added.

Police are but to find out the precise reason behind the accident. However, survivors knowledgeable authorities that the truck’s brakes failed whereas navigating a flip. “For now, we are able to’t say for sure what brought on the accident. The automobile overturned on the sting of the highway, and a crash barrier prevented it from plunging into the gorge. The injured people advised me that the brakes failed,” the DM stated.
The identities of the deceased and injured haven’t but been launched by the police.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences to the Kanwar pilgrims who misplaced their lives within the tragic accident.
