
Centre calls Monsoon session from July 21 amid demand for particular Op Sindoor session
The monsoon session has been introduced after opposition’s demand for a particular session on Operation Sindoor was rejected.

This session for each the Houses comes after a three-month break.
“We decided to convene the monsoon session of the Parliament on July 21st, and it will end on 12th August. The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs has decided the date and we will be sending the proposal to the Rashtrapati ji for summoning of both the houses,” Rijiju advised reporters.
Opposition calls for for particular session on Op Sindoor
The monsoon session would be the first Parliament session after the Pahalgam assault and Operation Sindoor. Following the assault, which killed 26 folks, opposition leaders known as for a particular session of each homes.
“We, the leaders of INDIA, reiterate our collective and urgent request to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the developments following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025,” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X on Tuesday.
The Congress president additionally shared a letter signed by outstanding opposition leaders, resembling Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee.
In response to the opppsition’s demand, the union parliamentary affairs minister stated, “Every session is a special session for us.”
He added that below the foundations, “all important matters” may be mentioned through the Monsoon session.
Following the announcement, TMC chief Derek O’Brien took a dig on the Centre for avoiding calling a particular session.
“Parliamentophobia (noun). My word for the acute condition of a (Modi) government who have a morbid fear of facing Parliament. Running away from a Special Session,” wrote O’Brien.
