Officials have blamed heavy rain and water flowing down from Meghalaya for the scenario within the space, reported PTI.

Red, orange rain alerts in Assam

The Regional Meteorological Centre stated three districts in Assam had been on purple alert on Saturday and eight on orange alert. It stated rainwater from Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya – that are upstream of Assam – has exacerbated the flood scenario.

The NDRF, SDRF, police, fireplace and emergency companies personnel have been pressed into aid and rescue operations.
