India launches ‘Operation Sindhu’ because it evacuates Indian college students stranded in Iran

Amid the rising tensions between Iran and Israel, India has launched ‘Operation Sindhu’ with the purpose to convey again Indian college students stranded in Iran. These college students have been requested to cross over into Armenia, from the place they’re being introduced again to New Delhi. India evacuated 110 students from northern Iran who crossed into Armenia under the supervision of our Missions in Iran and Armenia on 17th June. They departed from Yerevan on a special flight and will arrive in New Delhi in the early hours of 19th June 2025,” stated MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. Many of the scholars are from the area of Jammu and Kashmir and are enrolled in medical and different skilled programs. As per MEA, the primary flight of Indian college students has taken off from Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport and are anticipated to achieve India within the early hours of Thursday – June 19.  This isn’t the primary time the Indian authorities has launched a particular evacuation operation to convey house Indians stranded in warfare areas. In 2023, the Indian authorities launched Operation Ajay, which aimed to convey again Indians stranded in Israel throughout the warfare with Hamas. An analogous operation – Operation Ganga – was launched in 2022 to convey house Indian college students from Ukraine. The operation was launched after the Russia-Ukraine warfare broke out.
