Kolkata regulation faculty gang-rape: CCTV footage exhibits sufferer pressured into guards room, police say

Meanwhile, the probing officers collected proof from three places on campus, together with the scholars’ union room, the washroom, and the guard’s room, which helps the sufferer’s claims.

Police mentioned that the seized gadgets from the three places embrace strands of hair, a number of bottles containing unknown liquids, and a hockey stick.

Earlier within the day, the police arrested faculty safety guard Pinaki Banerjee after he failed to offer coherent responses throughout questioning.

“The guard did nothing to protect the victim. Evidence suggests he left the scene even as the victim was forcibly taken into his room by the main accused, while the other two stood guard outside,” the officer mentioned.

SIT fashioned to probe Kolkata gangrape

The Kolkata Police has fashioned a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (South Suburban Division), Pradip Ghoshal. The SIT is predicted to file a confidential assertion from the sufferer and her mother and father.

“Going by the sequence of events, it appears that the prime accused tortured the victim after she rejected his marriage proposal. This has been corroborated by the circumstantial evidence,” the officer mentioned.

“But whether it was a pre-planned crime needs to be proved,” the officer mentioned.

According to the investigators, the girl advised the three accused that she had a boyfriend and was “happy with him” and wouldn’t “cheat him”.

The trio then threatened to kill her boyfriend and lodge false instances towards her mother and father if she continued to withstand the prime accused’s proposal, she alleged.

The medical examination on Friday confirmed the coed’s allegation that she was gang raped.
