Vijayawada: The Krishna river is in spate as over 9.94 lakh cusecs of water is being discharged from Prakasam barrage downstream into the ocean right here at 10 pm on Monday.
The water assets authorities stated they have been getting an influx of 9.94 lakh cusecs of water from upstream tasks forcing them to raise all 70 gates to launch water downstream.
The authorities say that with rainfall within the Krishna catchment areas, the influx of water will proceed on the barrage. As the second flood warning is in drive at current, the authorities have sounded excessive alert at each upstream and downstream of the barrage to keep away from any untoward incidents.
Officials from the involved departments have swung into motion to maintain a detailed watch on the flood banks on both facet to make sure no breach to the bunds alongside the course of the river downstream.
Water degree within the Godavari river rose steadily and over 5 lakh cusecs of water was discharged from Sir Arthur Cotton barrage at Dowleswaram into the ocean on Sunday night.
The water assets authorities say that by Monday morning, the discharge is anticipated to be 6.5 lakh cusecs given large influx of water into the river from upstream.
