
PM Internship Scheme: 6% of recipients of gives have joined work to date

The PMIS was introduced within the Budget 2024-25, and goals to supply internships in India’s high 500 firms to 1 crore youth in 5 years. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs in October 2024 launched a pilot undertaking of the scheme, which aimed to supply 1.25 lakh internship alternatives to the youth in a single 12 months.
In the primary spherical of this pilot, firms posted greater than 1.27 lakh internship alternatives on the PMIS Portal throughout the nation.
“Against this, greater than 6.21 lakh functions had been acquired from about 1.81 lakh candidates,” Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned in a written reply posed by members of Parliament Vijay Kumar Dubey and Shobhanaben Mahendrasinh Baraiya.
“Partner firms revamped 82,000 internship gives to over 60,000 candidates, out of which greater than 28,000 candidates accepted gives to affix the internship, and over 8700 candidates joined their internship,” Ms. Sitharaman added.
In the second spherical of the pilot, which started on January 9, 2025, the associate firms posted over 1.18 lakh internship alternatives, together with new ones and edited unfilled alternatives from the earlier spherical, throughout 735 districts of the nation.
“Over 4.55 lakh functions had been acquired from over 2.14 lakh candidates on this spherical,” Ms. Sitharaman mentioned. “As on 17.07.2025, associate firms have revamped 71,000 gives to the youth and over 22,500 gives have been accepted. Currently, rolling out of gives and the method of acceptances/ becoming a member of by interns is in progress.”
In whole, to date, 1.53 lakh gives have been made to candidates, of which 50,500 had been accepted.
