
The History of Sound trailer: Paul Mescal and Josh OConnor lead Oliver Hermanus homosexual interval drama

Set throughout and after World War I, The History of Sound follows Lionel (Mescal), a gifted singer from rural Kentucky who leaves house to check music in Boston. There, he meets David (O’Connor), a fellow pupil and composer. After David is drafted into the struggle, the 2 reunite in 1920 to journey by the forests and islands of Maine, gathering folks songs to protect them for future generations.
The movie traces Lionel’s journey by Europe within the following years, as he finds skilled success and varieties new relationships. However, he stays haunted by his temporary time with David, and struggles to know the lasting influence of their connection.
Directed by Oliver Hermanus (Living, Moffie), the movie is produced by End Cue, Fat City, Closer Media, Film4, Tango Entertainment, and Storm City Films. The ensemble of producers consists of Andrew Kortschak, Lisa Ciuffetti, Sara Murphy, and Zhang Xin, amongst others.
The movie’s launch provides to a rising listing of latest queer interval dramas and is being praised for its restraint and lyrical storytelling. Both Mescal and O’Connor, recognized for Aftersun and The Crown respectively, are receiving early awards consideration for his or her performances.
The History of Sound will likely be distributed by Mubi and hits U.S. theatres on September 12.
