Warangal: In a rare and devastating weather event, approximately 50,000 trees spread across 200 hectares in the Eturnagaram forest, between Thadvai and Medaram, were uprooted by severe rains and tornado-like winds in Mulugu district. The incident, which occurred two days ago, was discovered during a recent inspection by forest officials.
Officials have confirmed that the uprooting of a wide variety of trees was caused by an unusual combination of heavy rains and strong winds, a phenomenon unprecedented in the Telangana region. The destruction has significantly impacted the green cover of the area.
In response to the disaster, forest authorities are implementing strict measures to protect the affected land and wildlife. Enhanced security and monitoring are in place to prevent illegal logging, as fallen logs of valuable wood are at risk of being targeted by poachers and local residents.
