
World Bicycle Day: SheCycling marketing campaign empowers girls by educating them to journey a bicycle

Prakash, founding father of ICE, says that as of now they’ve taught greater than 400 girls in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi to journey a bicycle. From May 22 to May 30, Beena O and Zeenath MA, volunteers of the SheCycle marketing campaign, had been educating 52 inmates of Sri Chitra Home in Thiruvananthapuram to make use of a bicycle. Three bicycles had been gifted to the house on May 30.
Cycle rally
Cyclists of Trivandrum Bikers Club will take out two rallies on June 3. Both will start at 5am; one is from Kazhakkoottam to Chakka and the opposite is from Kowdiar to Chakka. Many of them are every day riders who common about 25 to 50 km day by day. Contact: 8089678239.

“In the latest previous, we taught 15 girls in CMS College in Kottayam and 16 girls in Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram as a part of the marketing campaign. Three instructors in Kottayam and one in Vattiyoorkavu have taken up the duty of educating different girls to journey. Bengaluru-based BYCS India needed to know if we may do the identical in eight Indian cities – Bengaluru, Surat, Kolkata, Indore, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Rajkot and Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune,” says Prakash.

The plan is to show 400 girls to journey over a interval of 4 months in every metropolis after which choose a lady teacher to proceed the programme of their respective cities.
Bicycle tales
Zeenath says that below the venture, they hope to empower girls, particularly these from economically and socially deprived sections of society. A resident of Kochi, Zeenath learnt to journey on the age of 44 and now she desires to encourage extra girls to be taught to cycle. “A pair of wheels will increase their mobility and sense of confidence. Cycling can also be a wonderful type of train and it’s environment-friendly,” she provides.

They acknowledge that many ladies have inhibitions that cease them from studying to cycle. “They concern the ridicule of household and buddies and, in some instances, it’s patriarchy that stops them from utilizing a bicycle,” says Prakash.
Under the SheCycling programme ICE desires to encourage teams of feminine faculty college students, girls working in Kudumbasree and Anganwadis and Asha employees and so forth to grow to be cycle literate. “By 2030, we intention at making at the least 50 % of Indian girls cycle literate,” says Prakash.
