Some unconfirmed stories say the shooter could have began a hearth to attract firefighters to the scene earlier than opening fireplace on them.
One witness wrote on Facebook, “Some simply deliberately set a hearth in Hayden ID, close to Canfield a couple of miles north of Couer d Alene and opened fireplace on the hearth fighters and is capturing at anybody within the space.”
Another reported, “Avoid Canfield mountain space! Currant lively shooter a number of firefighters shot.”
A 3rd individual wrote, “From what they’re listening to on the scanner that two firefighters have been shot and probably a deputy and they’re pinned down.”
Another witness reported, “his is Not Good, some man is firing at fireplace fighters and now legislation enforcement. I’ve seen greater than 25 police autos from metropolis to state and the whole lot in between.”
Another individual wrote, “Got this textual content from a neighbor Hey only a heads up somebody began a hearth in Canfield mountain and is capturing firefighters as they arrive. The space perhaps VERY busy for awhile. Suspect is at massive nonetheless.”
Canfield is a residential neighborhood in Coeur d’Alene, situated southeast of Dalton Gardens and northeast of Lunceford Park.
